![]() It's workable and so I use this setup to write distraction free when I need to. There is LAG as /u/Splinter4ever mentioned but on SpeedMode it is tolerable with between 0.5 - 1 seconds of delay while you type and navigate around. I set both apps to use SpeedMode and I remove any background darkening because it hides some of the text on the buttons. The apps I use are Simpenote and iAWriter as both support writing in plain text and support Markdown which allows you to format text using plain readable text. It looks a bit ridiculous, as the keyboard is way bigger than the tablet but it does work rather well. You need a flat and steady surface for the foldable keyboard but you can use the Logitech K780 on your lap on the sofa if you need to, as the keyboard has a grove that holds the Boox Nova Air in place. I have this keyboard Logitech K780 along with this keyboard Geys Foldable and I alternate between the two depending on how portable I want things to be. OK so I have a Boox Nova Air (original model) and I pretty much use the device as you are suggesting :. I scrolled back and carried out some searches before creating this new post. Sorry if this is a well beaten track already. If the Leaf 2 can handle that type of thing just as well as the Nova Air 2, then the path would be clear to me. This is a read-only link to such a note (you shouldn't need an Evernote account to view this): Note, that there's no handwriting or graphics involved. Copy text from the play log into the memories bullet list. I'm not expecting Evernote to be as snappy as on my iPad or Mac, but is it usable, and how much would that factor be affected by the Leaf 2 vs Nova Air 2?Ī typical Evernote session would be something like updating my Thousand Year Vampire journal. So, my main concern and lack of knowledge stopping me from making a decision is about the speed when typing or using Evernote. For PDF markups and drawing I can turn to my iPad Pro and Apple pencil. The pen part is the big difference, but for me this is only a nice to have. Nova Air 2: Little bit bigger, pen input. Also can be a bit slow (slower than the Leaf 1 by several accounts). Leaf 2: Smaller, lighter, cheaper but no pen input. In the UK, right now, the Leaf 2 is available but Nova Air 2 is out of stock and more expensive. In my research on the typewriter devices, several people said they had good experiences pairing decent keyboards with a Boox device. ![]() I'm not able to get hold of a Kingjim Pomera (and current models have dropped e-paper in favour of LCD). ![]() A DOS era WordPerfect 5.1 approach is probably ideal. I don't need the full MS Word experience. I think that's great for narrative flow and forcing momentum, but not for more technical/business prose. Devices like the Freewrite Traveller don't let you do that by design (you have to mash backspace). Some of the smart typewriter solutions on the market are super stripped down, and the type of writing I do needs to let me perform simple edits. Plain text editor and sometimes Evernote would be the primary apps (when not reading books). So, I'm looking to mainly use this with a keyboard away from my usual desk and distractions. I'm looking at a device to compliment my desk, laptop and iPad Pro to focus on reading somewhat (which probably doesn't need discussing here) and mainly writing.
