![]() Not that anyone really cares but I have printed my return label and am ready to give it up and go back to my G2 but I figured this seemed a good place to maybe get a good answer. Even maybe creating an app that over rides the Motorola settings. So my question here is does anyone know of a way one could get the Moto X 2nd gen to do this either through the open developers option or other. As well at least the G2 lets you set up different tones for each email account and contact ringtones but not text tones. M4A files need to be converted to one of the above formats in order to be used on a Samsung phone. ![]() The iPhone has maintained it and as I have seen some Samsungs do as well I guess. Samsung phones support the following sound formats - MP3, WMA, AAC and FLAC. I am an old school guy that feels it is more important to be able to hear and know by a distinct tone who is texting/calling me and I am baffled that any device company would take that away. I have read many places that one can not set custom ringtones and or text tones/notification sounds for individual contacts on the Moto X 2nd gen and was curious if anyone knew why? I just got one and I am on the wall whether or not I want to keep it seeing this seems like it takes away from the personalization of my device. The Super Deluxe Ultimate Coil shock will win over the most demanding riders thanks to its sensitivity and flawless, consistent behaviour whatever the terrain, weather or length of your ride. We've therefore quipped it with the well-loved ROCKSHOX Lyrik Ultimate which has won numerous Enduro World Series rounds in recent years. The 'Matte Graphite' paint job immediately excited many! And what about those red RockShox details? META TR V4 - META SX V4: WHICH ONE TO CHOOSE? Flow trails, enduro, bike park, climbing, descents: nothing stands in its way. Rider positioning when climbing is ideal for long adventures. Well balanced, it excels during technical fast descents thanks to the aggressive kinematic/geometry combo. Most at home when pedalling, it is even more at home when you let go of the brakes downhill, where it turns into a real mini-enduro. It is designed to make you really want to ride. I'm also in MN but I travel out west for work and family a 3-5 times every year and I head up to Duluth alot. The META TR V4 is our vision of trail riding. I'm curious what bike you're moving towards. ![]() The TR does a great job of taking all of the attributes from Commencal's World Cup Downhill expertise, but it's just not a lightweight, poppy, flickable bike which is what I ultimately want to have since I can only have 1 bike in my stable. I just don't find that this bike carries momentum well when it's not pointed downhill so I want something that is a better fit for the all around riding style and trails I'm on. ![]() At 56, long days on the trail and sustained climbs in the TR really takes it's toll and saps your energy. Having said all that, I'm going to be putting my TR up for sale as I've ordered a new Full Carbon bike that will get me down in the 29/30 lb range. I don't think you would be making a bad decision either way, but the TR is more well rounded bike for everything. All Mountain, and you are doing a lot of lift service/bike park days, the AM would be a better option if you are more concerned with going downhill vs uphill. I think it's plenty capable on Enduro style trails, but if that is your main focus vs. Unfortunately, it won't be fast and all of your friends with lighter weight rigs will be waiting for you at the top of the hill. The 78.6 STA took me a little time to get used to but once you get comfortable with it you will appreciate how it helps put you in a great pedaling position to spin up the hills. It has crushed every downhill I have thrown at it but I ride MN trails and not CO/PNW trails. I have a medium 2021 TR Race with the Lyric up front and the Ultimate Coil out back. If you try to go a full size down you'll have a super cramped pedaling position because modern long reach bikes also have a corresponding steep seat tube. Thanks for the help.įWIW sizing down only works if you're in between sizes. The alternative would be the TR in a large frame, I just don't want the 140mm frame to limit me in the future. For context, I am 6ft but could still grow some. I have thought of sizing down on the AM and getting a medium rather than a large so I can control the bike a bit better but still hit bigger feautures, I still want to be comfortable though. I have heard the TR is decent on uphill, but can also handle DH situations. I want to be able to control the bike, especially in the air. I just don't want something like the AM to slow me down on uphill and technical sections of trail. So far I have hit a couple of pro lines with 20ft features on my current bike with 140mm recon upfront, so I'll definitely be going big. But, I am also starting Enduro/DH racing and love sketchy downhill. I have one year left of Highschool XC racing and will continue to ride mellower trails after school. Hey guys, I am about to upgrade my bike from a heavy trek fuel ex 5 that is too small for me to either the Commencal Meta TR 29 or Meta AM 29. ![]() The burgeoning ice trade, started in New England in 1806, was by the 1810s shipping ice down south year round, and that’s all the drink needed to really take off. It travels from medicine cabinet to liquor cabinet by way of an English novel called Tom Jones in 1749, wherein a character describes a bottle of wine, jokingly, as a “medicinal julap.” It is similar, Wondrich points out drolly, as referring to a bong hit as “glaucoma medicine.” “A ‘julep,’ you see, was medicine, pure and simple, and always had been.” From the Persian “gulab” - literally “rose water” - the word exclusively referred to sweetened medicinal liquid for some 300 years. “Somebody somewhere was kidding,” writes David Wondrich, in his magesterial Imbibe!. But add in Mint Juleps? Suddenly it’s a multi-day event, and the thought of dressing up like a carnival barker from the 1930s seems necessary. The Kentucky Derby without the Juleps would be shorter than a commercial break, and just as skippable (I can’t be alone here). The same jaded bartender who rolls his eyes at your request for a copper Moscow Mule mug will not only accept but insist on a traditional pewter cup for your Mint Julep. It is simultaneously exuberant and genteel, a sign of a great party and yet deeply serious, and has found favor in everyone from Teddy Roosevelt to Margaret Mitchell. It is essentially a large cup of whiskey, and yet has been embraced by every strata of society as perfectly acceptable to have several on a Saturday afternoon. It evokes a sense of 200 years of Southern history that is almost impossibly sanitized, and no one seems to mind. Take a moment to consider its achievements: As a cocktail, it violates almost almost every drinking norm we have, so easily spanning apparent contradictions so as to make the impossible possible. You also can set an audio alarm to ensure you wake from a deep sleep. The adjustable brightness levels of this sunrise alarm clock have made it a popular pick for kids or heavy sleepers. A basic fall-asleep mode gives you the option to unwind to one of three audio options or the FM radio while the light gradually dims to dark. It also includes an FM radio function and seven LED light colors for reading or ambiance. This sunrise alarm clock is the one to pick if you’re looking for value, since it offers 20 brightness levels and an adjustable sunrise routine that lasts as long as 30 minutes or as short as 10 minutes. The JALL Wake Up Light strikes the balance between features and affordability. ![]() Still, it offers simple operation at a budget-friendly price.ĭimensions: 6.8 x 3.9 x 7.2 inches | Sound Options: 7 | Brightness Levels: 3 | App: No | Ports: None | Connectivity: None There’s no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functionality, so don’t expect to use an app to control the clock's features or functions. This sunrise alarm clock also features a sunset mode, like our Best Overall pick, which gently dims the room during your evening routine. The alarm can be set to one of 15 nature sounds, or you can use the built-in FM radio. When the “sunrise” is complete, though, the audible alarm chimes to ensure that you’re fully awake. It’s worth noting that you can’t shorten or extend this sunrise period. This sunrise alarm clock starts to gently rouse you with gradually increasing light for a period of 30 minutes before your scheduled alarm time. Along the top edge of the clock, you’ll find buttons to adjust a variety of functions, including FM radio, snooze, and display brightness. Buttons on the face of the clock control the most utilized functions, like setting up an alarm or sleep timer. The circular design is typical of most sunrise alarm clocks, with an LED face in the center of the device. If you’re looking to spend less on an alarm clock, the hOmeLabs Sunrise Alarm Clock is a basic option that gives you the functionality you’d expect from this type of device, along with adjustable display brightness, light color options, and wake-up sounds. Overall, this pick is effective and performs well, all without posing a major learning curve.ĭimensions: 10 x 6 x 10 inches | Sound Options: 5 | Brightness Levels: 20 | App: No | Ports: Auxiliary | Connectivity: None There’s no app to control or modify this sunrise alarm clock, but the buttons around the top edge of the clock are simple and easy to use, with the exception of the snooze button, which we found harder to activate. While you can’t adjust the color of the light radiating from the circular face of this clock, it gives off a “soothing warm, almost orange, hue,” according to our notes. Additionally, there’s no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi functionality either, but an auxiliary cable port on the back of the device allows you to connect your phone and play music through the clock’s speaker. The five included audio options can only be played continuously or used for the alarm function. Though, one potential drawback is the lack of a sleep timer for the alarm clock's nature-inspired white noise. It includes a sunset mode that gradually descends through the light’s 20 brightness levels. This sunrise alarm clock isn’t just about making your mornings better-it has features focused on sleep, too. But if the light doesn’t wake you, rest assured: it’s followed by an audible alarm that includes soothing, nature sounds, like birds chirping or ocean waves. Notably, we were reliably woken up by the rising light levels. With this option, you can program a 30-minute sunrise routine that reaches a full brightness of 300 lux. At home, we put this option to the test and found it to be a gentle, natural way to wake up and start the day. The Philips SmartSleep Wake-Up Light encompasses the best in sunrise alarm clocks. Scribus should and could be a great product and it appears to be very comprehensive, but it need LOTS of help to make it rationally easy to install and use for even the above average user.Ī lot of good work has gone into Scribus. I found Scribus to be unnecessarily difficult and illogical. ![]() And, I've used Quark since it's intro, Pagemaker, MultiAd Creator, and other DTP programs and have rarely needed to consult their manuals and am very schooled on DTP. I'm a programmer and run web servers so I am somewhat used to the "logic" and assumptions of the open source and UNIX world. It is incredible that you have to change the text's characteristics in a one window and then go back to the main window to see the effect. So, I just tried to create my own document from scratch and almost immediately got the error, 'The application "pdflatex -interaction nonstopmode" failed to start! Please check the path:' Huh?Ĭontinuing on, I found that the interface was stunning stupid for some tasks, especially related to text. After lots of research and trials, I gave up. This is a classic case of open source assuming that everyone is a UNIX or LINUX geek. They were easy to find, but the instructions were either missing, utterly cryptic, or wrong. Finally, I finally found an easy Mac version, but why in the hell wasn't it mentioned at the various websites for GhostScript and Scribus! ![]() Most versions are a pain to install, having to run UNIX scripts and finding out that additional pieces are needed part way through the install forcing one to start over. Just try to find an easy to install version of GhostScript. At first, it needed GhostScript to import EPS and PDF. At first, it looked pretty good - nice logo decent layout, but it all went waaaaaay downhill from there. I really wanted to like this program, but now have mostly disdain for it. If you need to create printable PDFs and you do not want to invest in expensive software like Adobe InDesign, then this is worth looking at. You might be more pleased with Apple's Pages. If you do not bring your files to a professional printer often, then this software might not be for you. ![]() Scribus has a strong development community, which offers continuous support since many years. Of course, we all would like to see every month a new final release, but the available resources are limited. But, as true for many open source projects, its development cycles could be shorter. It is really impressive what Scribus brings you for nothing. Scribus is open source and comes for free. I printed a lot of flyers and smaller books with it and was always impressed by its feature set.ģ. But when you start to manage it, it is of real value. As with any professional software it has its complexity and learning curve. It is a disadvantage as you cannot expect a native Mac OS X user interface.Ģ. It is an advantage as you can move its document files across different operating systems and the result will still look the same (try this with a MS product). This is its main advantage and its main disadvantage. Scribus is cross-platform (Linux, Windows, Mac OS X). To really understand its value we must look at it pros and cons.ġ. It really needs to from install all the way to advanced work. But hopefully by the time that switch becomes reality, it will have improved. Scribus would be the best choice for sparse DTP needs. Still, I will keep working at this one, as one day I hope to switch to Linux fully and slave other OSes. well, just bad compared to programs of a similar focus. Constantly switching panes to set different things in just one paragraph, section, and/or page was tedious at times. Things that should be simple, such as inline / inlayout editing, are not. While Scribus is not that bad, I would not call it good and would not recommend it to anyone unfamiliar with DTP. I have used many moderate to top of the line DTP applications, all the way to the nightmare that is the industrial strength InDesign CC. I give high marks on that last part, but as to the rest. to some success on some minor projects for output to PDF. I have finally installed and used this one. |
